Brookfield Closes On $1B For Global Timber Fund

Law360, New York (August 21, 2013, 2:38 PM EDT) -- Canada's Brookfield Asset Management Inc. has closed a timber-focused global fund with $1 billion in capital commitments to invest in the U.S., Brazil and Australia, exceeding its fundraising target of $750 million, Brookfield announced late Tuesday.

The Toronto-based private equity asset manager said the Brookfield Timberlands Fund V LP will focus on timberland investment in the three countries, all of which are among the six largest countries in the world by area.
