Union Sues Fla. Over Corrections Officers' Holiday Time

Law360, Miami (August 22, 2013, 6:19 PM EDT) -- A Teamsters unit that represents about 20,000 Florida Department of Corrections officers on Tuesday sued the Florida governor and the state agency for allegedly unlawfully trying to waive the officers' right to their paid holiday time if they don't use it within a prescribed period.

In a complaint filed in Florida's Second Judicial Circuit Court, Teamsters Local 2011 asks the court to stop the state from forfeiting time accrued by correctional officers for work performed on statutorily-established state holidays throughout the year.
