FTC To Probe Oil Industry Over Renewable Fuels Competition

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 5:20 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission agreed in a letter released Thursday to investigate potentially anti-competitive activity in the oil and gas sector after a pair of senators expressed concern that some companies could be blocking consumer access to renewable fuels.

In a letter dated Monday  but released Thursday by Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez said the agency will pursue the allegations flagged by the senators and continue its efforts under various oil  and natural gas initiatives still in place....
