Brazil Energy Auction To Spur 66 New Wind Projects

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 4:12 PM EDT) -- A Brazilian state-backed auction of new wind-powered generating capacity will help fuel 66 new projects that have won the rights to sell power from those new facilities under long-term agreements, the country's energy auction overseer said Friday.

A total of 1.5 gigawatts of installed capacity were contracted at an average price of 110.51 reais ($46.66) per megawatt hour, according to Camara de Comercializacao de Energia Eletrica, or CCEE. With the companies competing to offer the CCEE the best value for the energy, the awards will end...
