VW Partly Liable In $10M Drunken Driving Award: Jury

Law360, New York (February 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Pennsylvania jury has reportedly awarded $10.2 million to a young woman who was paralyzed in a 2004 drunken driving car crash, assigning liability to three parties: the driver, Volkswagen of America Inc. and a local utility.

Chelsea Pursell was sitting in the center back seat and wearing a lap belt when the Volkswagen Jetta she was riding in hit a utility pole in May 2004; the driver was intoxicated, according to the Associated Press.
