Fla. Judge Challenges State Panel's Ethics Charges

Law360, Miami (August 26, 2013, 7:36 PM EDT) -- A Florida judge under investigation by the Judicial Qualifications Commission told the state's highest court Monday that the panel filed charges while possessing limited evidence and that the case's special counsel failed to disclose conflicts of interest.

Broward County Judge Laura Marie Watson, who won election last November to a seat in the state's Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, came under scrutiny over her involvement as an attorney in a controversial $14.5 million settlement with Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. over personal injury protection and bad faith.
