Ex-BP Engineer Says Obstruction Charges In Spill Lack Proof

Law360, Washington (August 27, 2013, 7:26 PM EDT) -- A former BP PLC engineer pushed a Louisiana federal judge Monday to toss pending obstruction of justice charges against him for his alleged actions during the Deepwater Horizon spill investigation, claiming the grand jury never heard evidence justifying the indictment.

According to Kurt E. Mix, prosecutors failed to provide a grand jury that indicted him three times on two obstruction of justice charges with any evidence that allegedly deleted text messages and voicemails had any relationship to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill investigation.
