Pa. DEP Gets Initial OK On Oil, Gas Surface Operation Rules

Law360, Philadelphia (August 27, 2013, 3:11 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced Tuesday that it had won initial approval for a set of regulations governing surface operations at and around natural gas drilling sites in the state’s Marcellus Shale play.

The DEP said the state’s Environmental Quality Board had given the green light to a set of rules that would place new requirements on energy companies to minimize pollution stemming from surface activities carried out in conjunction with natural gas drilling in the state.
