BSEE, DOT To Track Offshore Drilling Disaster Near Misses

Law360, New York (August 28, 2013, 6:04 PM EDT) -- U.S. offshore drilling regulators said Wednesday that they are teaming up with the Department of Transportation to develop a confidential reporting system for near miss incidents during offshore activity, allowing them to better track potential safety hazards and prevent accidents from occurring.

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said the reporting system, which will be developed and managed by the DOT's Bureau of Transportation Statistics, will have voluntary reporting of near miss incidents on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf by both industry and regulatory personnel,...
