AHA Fears 'Devastating' Effects Of Medicare Dialysis Cuts

Law360, New York (August 28, 2013, 4:44 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association on Tuesday lashed out against Medicare’s deep proposed cuts to dialysis centers, saying they would carry “devastating repercussions” and urging federal regulators to take a more measured approach.

In comments on proposed payment reductions, the AHA echoed more than 200 members of Congress and other trade groups in decrying a 12 percent cut to base payments for facilities specializing in end-stage renal disease, an affliction that Medicare spent more than $30 billion on last year.
