Fla. Mayor Arrested For Secret Lobbying Activities

Law360, Miami (August 28, 2013, 7:20 PM EDT) -- Miami-Dade County authorities arrested the mayor of Homestead, Fla., Wednesday on corruption charges over a secret consulting job for a health care nonprofit organization, making him the third mayor in the county to be arrested this month.

Homestead Mayor Steve Bateman was arrested on two counts of unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior, according to Gov. Rick Scott, who suspended Bateman from office after the charges were revealed.
