Adani Proposes $300M Power Link For $6B Aussie Coal Plant

Law360, New York (August 30, 2013, 2:29 PM EDT) -- One of India's biggest coal companies is planning a $300 million power line for its massive Australian mine, government officials said Thursday, part of a booming export link between Aussie coal reserves and Indian electricity plants.

Adani Group has proposed a 400-mile power line between the Carmichael mine, a $5.9 billion undertaking of Adani's mining arm, and central Queensland. Company executives met this week in India with Australian officials, who say they're receptive to the idea, especially since it wouldn't tax the state's balance sheet....
