Occidental Seeks ITC Probe Of Chlorine From Japan, China

Law360, New York (August 30, 2013, 8:29 PM EDT) -- Occidental Chemical Corp. and Clearon Corp. on Thursday asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to launch anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations into imports of chlorine compounds from Japan and China, saying their business is being undercut by unfair competition from the low-cost, foreign-made chemicals.

The U.S. companies allege that every level of government in China has provided a plethora of subsidies to manufacturers and exporters of chlorinated isocyanurates, while Japanese producers sold the chemicals, generally used to treat swimming pools and spas, at less than fair...
