Health Clinic Office Manager Gets 68 Months For $63M Fraud

Law360, Miami (August 30, 2013, 7:08 PM EDT) -- A Miami federal judge on Friday issued a sentence of 68 months in prison and payment of $17.4 million in restitution to the office manager of a defunct health care clinic at the center of a $63 million Medicare and Medicaid kickback scheme.

Lisset Palmero, 45, who pled guilty in May, was the last of 13 defendants in the initial string of arrests to be sentenced for the scheme, which ran from 2004 to 2011, according to court records. Federal investigators arrested seven more defendants in July...
