Target Recalls Floor Lamps Over Fire, Shock Hazard

Law360, New York (September 3, 2013, 5:51 PM EDT) -- Target Corp. recalled 25,000 floor lamps on Tuesday following reports that they have short-circuited and started fires or shocked consumers, offering customers a full refund for the products.

The company's white, two-bulb Threshold floor lamp can short when a standard one-way bulb is tightly inserted into a three-way socket, according to information posted to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's website.

Target has received six reports of the lamp short-circuiting, incidents that resulted in fires, property damage and the shocking of two consumers, the CPSC said....
