FDA Extends Public Comment Period On Menthol Cigarettes

Law360, New York (September 10, 2013, 6:26 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday that it has extended a comment period concerning the potential regulation of menthol cigarettes by an additional two months after several tobacco manufacturers complained they were not being given enough time to weigh in.

The FDA is soliciting feedback from the public as it contemplates a move toward more strictly regulating the mint-flavored cigarettes, which are currently not subject to the same restrictions as other flavored tobacco products but long have been the subject of agency scrutiny. The...
