Power Co. Pitches $1B Lake Erie Power Line

Law360, New York (September 12, 2013, 6:39 PM EDT) -- A Toronto-based power company on Thursday unveiled plans to install a $1 billion power line on the floor of Lake Erie between Ontario and Pennsylvania that would provide clean energy to the grid operated by regional transmission organization PJM Interconnection.

Lake Erie Power Corp. said the 1,000-megawatt transmission line, dubbed the Lake Erie CleanPower Connector, would bring Canadian hydroelectric, wind, solar, natural gas and nuclear energy to the PJM grid, which supplies electricity to 13 states and the District of Columbia.
