Chinese Authorities Eye Bayer Amid Pharma Bribery Probe

Law360, New York (September 13, 2013, 12:41 PM EDT) -- Amid an ongoing bribery probe of the pharmaceutical industry that has involved drug giants including GlaxoSmithKline PLC and Sanofi SA, Chinese authorities have visited one of the China offices of German heavyweight Bayer AG to review possible “unfair competition," a Bayer spokesman confirmed Friday.

Authorities from the Administration for Industry and Commerce in China visited one of Bayer’s offices there in late August, Bayer spokesman Guenter Forneck confirmed Friday, although he declined to say which of its offices authorities visited.
