Fla. Appeals Court OKs Challenge To New Trauma Centers

Law360, New York (September 13, 2013, 3:07 PM EDT) -- A group of Florida nonprofit hospitals with existing trauma centers have standing to challenge provisional licenses for new trauma centers under state law, a Florida appeals court ruled Thursday, reversing the state Department of Health's dismissal of the hospitals' protests.

Florida's First District Court of Appeal ruled the economic interests of existing trauma centers are protected under the state's trauma center statutes, rejecting the DOH's argument to the contrary.
