CMS Finalizes Rule To Cut $1B In Medicaid DSH Payments

Law360, New York (September 16, 2013, 4:17 PM EDT) -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services finalized measures under the Affordable Care Act to reduce the so-called Medicaid disproportionate share hospital payments by $1.1 billion to all states in 2014 and 2015 regardless of whether they expand their state Medicaid program, the CMS said Friday.

The CMS, which proposed the rule in May, said Friday that the final rule would go into effect for the 2014 and 2015 DSH payment allotments, with $500 million and $600 million in reductions, respectively, for those years, according to...
