LabMD Didn't Do Enough To Protect Customer Data, FTC Says

Law360, New York (September 16, 2013, 5:30 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission last week shed more light on its recent privacy allegations against LabMD Inc. by publicly releasing an administrative complaint detailing ways the agency says the company could have improved its data security practices.

The agency provided a preview of its gripe with the medical testing laboratory on Aug. 29, when it said it had accused LabMD of engaging in unfair practices under Section 5 of the FTC by failing to protect the security of consumers' medical information and other personal data. The...
