FTC Tackles Medical Discount Scam Targeting Seniors

Law360, New York (September 16, 2013, 5:59 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Monday hit several American and Canadian companies with a lawsuit alleging they scammed seniors across the the U.S. by offering phony discounts on prescription drugs and pretending to be affiliated with Medicare, Social Security or other medical insurance providers.

In a complaint filed Sept. 9 against U.S.-based AFD Advisors LLC, AMG Associates LLC, Park 295 Corp. and CAL Consulting LLC, and Canadian-based 9262-2182 Quebec Inc. and 9210-7838 Quebec Inc., the FTC said seniors in the U.S. were targeted by the deceptive...
