1st-Year Associate Salaries Hold Steady, Survey Finds

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 9:19 PM EDT) -- First-year BigLaw associate salaries held the status quo this year, according to a survey released Wednesday, while experienced associates were more often compensated for competence and specific legal experience rather than for longevity alone.

The BigLaw benchmark for first-year associates salary of $160,000 survived anemic industry profits and more client pressure not to pay for inexperienced lawyers, according to 2013 Associate Salary Survey from the National Association for Legal Career Professionals and the group's director.
