Lawmakers Bridge Divide Over CPSC Overhaul Bill

Law360 (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Lawmakers came one step closer on Friday to approving legislation that would give a much-needed shot in the arm to the faltering federal watchdog that polices consumer goods, reaching a bipartisan deal over certain contested portions of the bill.

Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Senate Commerce Committee Vice Chairman Ted Stevens (R-Ark.), and Senate Commerce Chairman Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) announced the agreement, saying they believed the deal would lead to “swift, bipartisan passage of the bill” within the next few weeks.
