'Recluse' Cigar Maker Targets Rival In Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (September 19, 2013, 4:59 PM EDT) -- Florida cigar company Iconic Leaf Cigars LLC sued rival Vintage Cigar Distributors of New England in federal court Tuesday over a spider trademark for their smokes.

Iconic Leaf accuses the New Hampshire-based distributor of infringing its “Recluse” brand of cigars with Vintage's “Spider” brand of cigars. Both trademarks feature the image of a spider. Iconic Leaf says that it was the first to obtain the mark and Vintage's mark creates confusion within the companies' intended market.
