USPTO OKs "Dykes On Bikes" Trademark

Law360 (December 11, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a victory for San Francisco’s nonprofit lesbian motorcycle group, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted the group a trademark for “Dykes On Bikes,” overturning an earlier decision that called the brand too offensive.

The group, known for riding in the lead position at San Francisco's gay pride parade every year for nearly three decades, has spent two years trying to obtain a federal trademark, according to its president, Vic Germany.
