Jardine Lloyd Thompson Pays £156 For Towers Watson Unit

Law360, New York (September 20, 2013, 11:46 AM EDT) -- Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC is buying Towers Watson's reinsurance brokerage business for £156 million ($250 million), it said Friday, a move that plays into the British insurance broker's efforts to expand its presence in North America.

The deal combines JLT's reinsurance business JLT Re with that of Towers Watson, creating a new business with £166 million in revenues and 700 employees in 35 locations in 17 countries, the companies said.
