House Passes Spending Bill With ACA Defunding Clause

Law360, Washington (September 20, 2013, 6:35 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday voted in a favor of a spending bill that allows the government to continue operating past the end of the month and also defunds the Affordable Care Act, moving the legislation to the Senate, where it faces a hostile reception.

The House voted 230-189 to pass H.J. Res. 59, a so-called continuing resolution, which provides continued government funding at current levels, through to Dec. 15, averting a government shutdown at the end of September when the current spending authority...
