Judge Keeps Swipe Fee Rules In Place While Fed Appeals

Law360, New York (September 20, 2013, 1:49 PM EDT) -- The Washington federal judge who invalidated the Federal Reserve's rules for debit card transaction fee limits granted a stay Thursday that will leave the regulations in place while the central bank appeals the decision.

After listening to pleas from both the Fed and retailers challenging the swipe-fee rule U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon said that a stay that he had previously granted should remain in place while the D.C. Circuit reviews the case in order to keep some regulatory structure in place.
