Spain Fines Elevator Repair Cos. €4.8M In Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (September 23, 2013, 5:10 PM EDT) -- Spain's antitrust watchdog slapped Zardoya Otis SA, Schindler SA and two other elevator manufacturers with fines totaling €4.8 million ($6.47 million) for allegedly unfairly hindering competition in the market for elevator maintenance and repair, the agency announced Monday.

The country's National Competition Commission, known as the CNC, hit the manufacturers with the fines earlier this month after finding that they had cast rival elevator servicing companies in a false, negative light to to ensure clients would keep coming back to them whenever their elevators needed work....
