DOL's FMLA Changes: For Employers, A Mixed Bag

Law360, New York (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In the first major update since the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 was enacted, the Department of Labor has published proposed rule changes that substantially amend the act’s regulations.

After soliciting suggestions from interested parties, the DOL addressed three areas that elicited the most attention from respondents: concerns over the medical certification process, regulations dealing with the definition of a serious health condition, and the use of unscheduled, intermittent leave.
