YPF, Dow Agree On $188M Joint Venture For Shale Gas

Law360, New York (September 25, 2013, 5:31 PM EDT) -- Argentinean state-controlled oil company YPF SA entered into a $188 million joint venture with Dow Chemical Co. for exploration of 16 shale gas wells in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta formation, the companies announced Wednesday.

The shale gas wells will be the first in Argentina's history, with Dow investing $120 million in the project over the first year and YPF SA injecting $68 million.

Negotiations between Dow and YPF began in March, with the companies signing a memorandum of understanding that outlined plans to move forward with joint energy...
