Judge Cuts $134M Verdict In Wyeth Hormone Trial

Law360, New York (February 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Nevada state judge has slashed a $134 million verdict awarded to three breast cancer sufferers in a trial over Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s controversial hormone replacement pills because of concerns that the jury was influenced by “passion and prejudice.”

Judge Robert Perry, of the Second Judicial District Court in Reno, granted a motion by the drugmaker to find the amount excessive. He trimmed the total damages to about $58 million on Tuesday.
