FTC Wins Injunction On $6M Loan Referral Scheme

Law360, New York (September 26, 2013, 5:10 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission succeeded in halting a complex telemarketing and money lending referral scheme that targeted seniors and allegedly swindled consumers out of $6 million, the commission announced on Thursday.

On August 19, an Arizona federal court issued a preliminary injunction against eight companies and 15 individuals that the FTC accused of lying to consumers about the possibility of earning thousands of dollars by referring small businesses to fake loan providers.
