Peru OKs $178M Gold Project

Law360, New York (September 26, 2013, 2:45 PM EDT) -- Latin American miner Minera IRL Ltd. said Thursday that the Peruvian government has granted it environmental approval for its $177.5 million Ollachea gold project, paving the way for the company to kick off construction next year and start production on schedule in 2015.

The go-ahead comes nine months after Minera IRL submitted its environmental and social impact assessment to regulators, a pivotal step in the government's approval process. Last year, Minera IRL's plans were propped up by an endorsement from the community surrounding the proposed project...
