ADB Loans $220M To Reduce Poverty in Uzbekistan

Law360, New York (September 26, 2013, 3:34 PM EDT) -- The Asian Development Bank will provide a $220 million loan to the government of Uzbekistan to help renovate a water supply system, providing drinking water access to hundreds of thousands and securing reliable irrigation to help local farmers diversify crops, the bank announced Thursday.

The loan will allow the country to upgrade water supply infrastructure across its Bukhara province and in two districts in the Navoi province, where almost half the population live below the poverty line, the Manila-based bank said.
