Former EPA Official Admits To Salary Scam

Law360, Washington (September 27, 2013, 3:06 PM EDT) -- A former high-ranking U.S. Environmental Protection Agency official pled guilty Friday to stealing nearly $900,000 in undeserved salary, benefits and bonuses paid to him while he claimed he worked on a Central Intelligence Agency task group.

John C. Beale, who worked as a deputy assistant administrator in the EPA's Office of Air and Radiation, pled guilty to one charge of theft of government property stemming from more than 13 years of skirting work while collecting his full salary and additional benefits from the agency. All in...
