Germany Proposes €37M Fine For Alleged Cartel

Law360, New York (February 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Warning that more action was to come, the German Federal Cartel Office said Wednesday that it would fine three makers of drugstore items, such as toothpaste, about €37 million ($54 million) for allegedly fixing prices and sharing information with retailers.

The office proposed fines for the units of Henkel KGaA,, Sara Lee Corp. and Unilever NV. However, rival Colgate-Palmolive cooperated with the investigation and avoided a fine, the office said.
