CardioFocus Sues Rivals Over Laser Heart Device

Law360, New York (February 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Massachusetts maker of laser heart-treatment devices has sued nine competitors, alleging that their products infringe one of its patents.

CardioFocus Inc. filed the suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts over alleged infringement of its patents for a infrared laser catheter system designed to treat cardiac arrhythmia.

The defendants in the suit are Candela Corp., IPG Photonics, PhotoMedex Inc., Surgical Laser Technologies, Convergent Laser Technologies, Trimedyne, Laserscope, CardioGenesis and New Star Lasers.
