Canon Unit Hits Miami Law Firm With $3M Malpractice Suit

By Nathan Hale (September 27, 2013, 9:10 PM EDT) -- Canon Latin America Inc. is seeking more than $3 million in damages from Diaz Reus & Targ LLP and its managing partner in a suit filed Monday in Florida state court, alleging the firm mishandled and exorbitantly billed the company during two lawsuits.

The Canon unit, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon USA Inc. that markets the brand's cameras and other electronics in most of Latin America and the Caribbean, is claiming gross negligence, legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty on the part of the firm and managing partner Michael Diaz Jr.
