BigLaw Braces For Revenue Hit In Federal Shutdown

Law360, New York (October 1, 2013, 12:15 AM EDT) -- While BigLaw attorneys were plenty busy Monday preparing clients for wide-ranging fallout expected from the government shutdown, lawyers said the stoppage could hit firms' critical fourth-quarter revenues and severely impact the year's numbers if it drags on.

Rich Gold, a partner on Holland & Knight LLP's policy side, said a revenue disruption from the shutdown that began at midnight Tuesday might be offset by the recent jump in related advising work — if it doesn’t last too long.
