FERC Chief Nominee Calls It Quits

Law360, New York (October 1, 2013, 12:38 PM EDT) -- Former Colorado utility regulator Ron Binz said Tuesday that he's withdrawn his name from consideration to lead the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission amid heavy opposition from U.S. Senate Republicans and lawmakers aligned with the coal industry.

Binz said in a statement that he asked President Barack Obama Monday night to withdraw his nomination to serve as FERC chairman, after it became clear that his name wouldn't make it out of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
