High Court To Weigh Sanctions Rule For 'Baseless' IP Suits

Law360, New York (October 1, 2013, 12:05 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court decided Tuesday to review the Federal Circuit's rule that district court decisions ordering sanctions for "objectively baseless" patent suits are not entitled to deference on appeal, a standard that health insurer Highmark Inc. says will promote frivolous suits by so-called patent trolls.
