Stryker Hit With Patent Suit Over Spinal Treatment Devices

Law360, New York (October 1, 2013, 4:19 PM EDT) -- Stryker Corp. is the latest company to be slapped with a patent infringement suit alleging that some of its surgical instruments for spinal procedures infringe 10 patents held by Orthophoenix LLC, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in Delaware federal court.

The 10 patents are amongst hundreds that Orthophoenix received by assignment from Medtronic Inc. in April, and the company says Stryker has actively infringed the patents by creating and selling surgical instruments for balloon kyphoplasty, which is a procedure used to treat certain spinal fractures,...
