NLRB Hits UPMC With More Union-Busting Charges

Law360, Philadelphia (October 2, 2013, 5:51 PM EDT) -- The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center was slapped Friday with the latest in a string of charges by the National Labor Relations Board alleging that officials with the health care provider worked to stymie union organization by its employees.

The board hit UPMC, the largest employer in Pennsylvania, with 19 new charges related to allegations that the employer illegally fired, threatened and retaliated against workers for speaking and working in favor of unionization with Service Employees International Union Healthcare Pennsylvania.
