Rep. Royce Wants House Financial Panel To Probe NAIC

Law360, New York (October 4, 2013, 4:35 PM EDT) -- U.S. Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., is pushing for the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services to hold a hearing to examine the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' “proper role” in insurance regulation, a spokeswoman for the congressman told Law360 Friday.

The senior member of the Committee on Financial Services has repeatedly claimed that the NAIC carries out regulatory activities behind closed doors and has even asked the Federal Insurance Office to thoroughly analyze the group's structure, actions and budgetary process to determine whether there's enough accountability....
