Manufacturing Cos. Push For 'Fast-Track' Trade Authority
Law360, New York (October 4, 2013, 4:09 PM EDT) -- The National Association of Manufacturers on Thursday pushed Congress and the Obama administration to renew so-called fast-track trade authority, saying the provision would ease the process for completing trade deals that stand to benefit the U.S. manufacturing sector.
NAM's board of directors voted to approve a resolution calling for a renewal of trade promotion authority, also referred to as "fast-track" authority, which would allow the executive branch to negotiate trade deals, and limit Congress to a yes-or-no vote on the proposed agreement, without amendments.
