Airbus Lands Mammoth $9.5B Deal With Japan Airlines

Law360, New York (October 7, 2013, 7:31 PM EDT) -- Airbus SAS has scored a major victory over chief rival Boeing Co., landing a contract worth an estimated $9.5 billion from Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. for 31 of its new A350 XWB aircraft, Airbus and the carrier said Monday.

It is the first ever order by Japan Airlines for any Airbus planes for its fleet, which is dominated by Boeing aircraft, and the first order Airbus has received from Japan for its A350 XWB. Under the deal, Japan Airlines has options for 25 additional aircraft....
