NYC Bar Group Backs Retirement Age Bump For State Judges

Law360, New York (October 7, 2013, 5:54 PM EDT) -- The New York City Bar Association on Monday backed a proposed change to the state constitution that would raise the retirement age for many Empire State judges, including those on New York's top court, saying it would allow experienced, productive judges to help tackle an ever-growing caseload.

The 23,000-member lawyer association joined another downstate bar group, the New York County Lawyers' Association, in backing the move, which will be presented to voters on the ballot in November as Proposal 6.
