Czech Brewer Claims Italian Win In Budweiser Mark Fight

Law360, New York (October 8, 2013, 1:03 PM EDT) -- Czech brewer Budejovicky Budvar NP on Tuesday said Italy's highest court had invalidated Anheuser-Busch InBev NV's trademark for “Budweiser” and banned the company from using the name in the country — the latest decision in a century-long global battle over the beer name.

Italy's Supreme Court of Cassation said Anheuser-Busch's trademark for Budweiser was deceptive and removed it from the country's trademark registry, Budvar said, allowing the state-owned Czech company to begin using the name for its “Budweiser Budvar” lager in Italy after a 12-year absence....
